Boats & floats

In advance of the July 4th holiday, I polled our daughters to see what sort of towable they wanted me to buy. After considering several options, I went with the one below. After we dragged them around the lake, they decided it was a thumbs down. So I called up a neighbor and gave it to her since they have a couple kids in middle school that would definitely enjoy it.

As luck would have it, our other neighbors two doors down had the sort of towable we wanted to try next. So we bought their Big Mable, booster ball and tow ropes for a song. All we had to do was air it up and we're back in the towing business.

Thinking we'd take little man Finn for boat rides because he seems game, I got him his own doggy life jacket. He was leery when I first put it on him, but then he raced around in excitement.

We recently took the boat out over the weekend while the husband was here, so I got to play captain. Our new cradle lifts are fabulously easy for launching and docking. The swim ladder we ordered finally arrived, so our boathouse guy got it installed a couple days ago. We couldn't use our 18x6' swim mat until we got the ladder in place. The latest boathouse news is that I've ordered one of those custom touchless pontoon covers. We can hardly wait for it to arrive, because wrestling the playpen cover on the boat is a pain in the patootie.

We've had a few pop up showers lately, which we need. August is traditionally a pretty dry month in this part of Texas, barring something like a hurricane coming ashore headed towards our neck of the woods. I snapped a pic of a recent rainbow I spied from our dock. As we creep towards the BER months, I look forward to getting out on the water for some fishing when the temps aren't hot enough to melt my rubber flip flops.
