Get out while the getting's good

Lord have mercy, y'all, I just feel so bad for friends and family back in Southeast Texas where the husband and I grew up. When we left there 27 years ago, I knew I'd never miss the weather. And mosquitoes. So my heart goes out to the folks dealing with yet another serious hurricane headed their way in less than five years. After dealing with flooding of biblical proportions from hurricanes Ike and Harvey, hurricane Laura is on a path to blow in as a potential Cat 3 storm in a couple days. In other words, this will be a big wind event. Roofs gone. Trees down. Roads impassable. And electricity off for possibly weeks in some areas. This is undoubtedly the one time schools were prepared for the upheaval of a storm since they've been doing distance learning thanks to the coronavirus.

In the map above, that purple swath along the coast of Texas is where I was raised. In the map below, it's basically where the hurricane symbol with "1" is located. It's flat as a pancake there. You can't get to higher ground or a storm shelter because neither exists, so you have to get in your car and drive inland to stay safe. Please join me in praying for God to fill these Texans with strength and perseverance as they face the uncertainty of yet another hurricane and its aftermath.
