Dancing into September

I love it when we turn the calendar page to September every year because it kicks off my favorite season. And means we're one month closer to getting away from triple digit temps.

We ended August with a hurricane hitting the far southeast corner of Texas. Poor ol' Louisiana got the brunt of Laura. My mother also celebrated her 74th birthday. My sister and I took her to the lake, where we lazed around by the pool eating too many birthday cake calories. We finally made it to the Grand Central Cafe to check out their lunch menu and it was worth the trip. The food was great AND it's in an old Victorian house that served as the movie set for "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". Let me tell ya, their cook killed it with the whiskey shrimp dip appetizer.

Our older daughter has moved to Austin and is getting settled for her auditing job. After some back and forth, she decided to take her chorkie and give it a go with him in her highrise apartment building in the heart of downtown. He's a yappy little cuss, so it will take some time for him to adjust. I don't know that our terriers miss him, but I imagine he's probably missing their doggy company.

You know you want to sing along, even if you're still trying to figure out some of the lyrics after all these years. Or make that decades. Earth, Wind & Fire is still da bomb and "September" is one of my favorite hits from the 70s. Enjoy!
