Wild and Crazy

For the next two weeks, we are kid-free at our house.  Unless you count the dog, which is probably more work than either of the girls with his need to be walked and fed and watered and let out to toilet and watched so he doesn't chew up any more dining room chair legs because he thinks they're mighty tasty.

No kids, several bottles of wine in the fridge and time on our hands, wink-wink, nudge-nudge.  I know what you're thinking, but this was W-A-Y better.  We ate nachos in front of the TV while watching a military history program about Grant and Lee in the Civil War.

You know you're getting older when you follow that up with a discussion about the oldest daughter's potential colleges and then go to sleep at a decent hour since the husband has work and we were both up earlier than usual that morning to get the younger daughter off to Texas.

This weekend we leave for a Danube river cruise on Viking.  After reading their reviews on the cruise critic website recently, I'm thinking it may resemble a floating nursing home with the average age of their guests closer to my parent's age than mine.  After a couple ocean cruises in the last year that ran us ragged with constant touring, I decided to go this route for a relaxing holiday.  Good thing the hubby and I both love history because we may be getting chummy with a whole bunch of fossils.
