At my age, I should know better. I have NEVER been able to craft or make anything cheaper than I would have spent purchasing it already done. I figure I've spent about $20 for materials over the price of the painted oars I found on Etsy. Meh, at least I'll have some custom oart-work the younger daughter created for me to hang in the lake house once she's finished.
